How many times has Nate Diaz been finished in his MMA career?

Well, the question should probably be rephrased to, ‘Has Nate Diaz ever been finished?’

Nathan Donald Diaz was born in Stockton, California. He lives by a ‘killed or be killed’ state of mind.

Having made his MMA debut when he was just 19, Diaz quickly rose through the ranks and in just 3 years, made a move to the UFC.

He kickstarted his UFC career by winning the TUF 5 finale in June 2007. And since then he has been a UFC mainstay.

With a record of 20 wins and 12 losses, one might think Diaz is bang average. But, ‘The Stockton Slugger’ is special. He seldom gets finished, his fights draw some of the biggest crowds and whatnot.

The question remains: How many times has Nate Diaz been finished?

Nate Diaz’s last loss was via. TKO against Jorge Masvidal

One might argue that even Diaz’s last match (against Jorge Masvidal) ended in a TKO loss which is in fact a way of being finished. But the TKO was awarded due to a doctor stoppage, which means he wasn’t finished technically.

Going by his fight resume, the only TKO loss Nate Diaz has, came in April 2013. He lost to Josh Thomson’s head kick and punches, resulting in Diaz being finished.

However, until this day, Diaz claims that Thomson was awarded the fight because the referee decided to wave off the fight, and also because his brother Nick Diaz threw in the towel.

Therefore, according Diaz he has never been finished in his long MMA career. But going by the record he has been finished just once in 32 fights.

He is now set to take on Leon Edwards at UFC 263 this weekend.
