UFC legend Georges St-Pierre has made an abundant of cash through via. his career earnings alone

With the fight pay debate heating up following YouTuber’s Jake Paul recent comments, Georges St-Pierre might have probably fanned the flames.

Following his face-off with Tyron Woodley, ahead of their professional boxing match on the 28th of August, YouTuber Jake Paul had the following to say, about the fighters pay issue:

“There’s a movement, moving forward that is gonna show that fighters should be getting paid more. It’s unfair. The UFC fighters don’t have fair pay. Out of all the sports, the percentage that the owners get versus the athlete, they’re the lowest. Francis Ngannou vs. Jon Jones, that fight should happen. Dana White, pay them the $10 million. He’s taking their money. They’re the ones making the content. They’re the ones getting in the ring, risking their life.”

There has always been a never ending grievance from a truckload of fighters about being paid less. The focal point being- the most riskiest sport in the world, and the pay being nowhere close to other sports.

In a recent essay on WealthSimple Magazine, UFC legend Georges St-Pierre (WRITTEN BY ANDREW GOLDMAN) extensively explained how he was paid in millions even during the pre-2010s.

He had an advise for toiling fighters – “You need to have the power to negotiate those terms.”

An excerpt from GSP’s essay read:

“So after I won the championship in 2008, I took a big gamble on myself and told UFC I was not going to re-sign with them. And then, the day before my fight with Jon Fitch, the UFC came back with a big, crazy contract because they didn’t want me to become a free agent. You read I made $400,000 a match? No. I made a lot more than that. A lot more than that. Millions. When I was at the peak of my career, I was making many millions of dollars. Because you not only get the money to show and the money to win, but you also have a percentage of the gate and pay-per-view buys — the gate and the pay-per-views are where the real money is. That’s how fighters make their money. But you need to have the power to negotiate those terms. I was very successful so I could demand that extra money.”
