Ion Cutelaba was blasted on social media for ferociously grabbing Dustin Jacoby by the neck during weigh-ins

The weigh-ins for the UFC Fight Night: Reyes vs Prochazka just concluded, but it didn’t go smoothly as UFC President Dana White would have wanted to.

The main card features another light-heavyweight bout, barring the main event. Ion Cutelaba will be taking on Dustin Jacoby.

The Moldovan, Cutelaba is often known for physically intimidating his opponents during the staredowns. He was once again up to his usual antics against Jacoby as well. But this time, he took things too far.

Things were going smooth as Cutelaba entered and warmly shook White’s hands. Out of nowhere he furiously grabbed Jacoby by the neck, even as White and the security staff struggled to intervene.

Furious words were then verbally exchanged. However, the pair were separated quite quickly. White was then heard exclaiming, “I should have stayed in the office.”

The fans were irate with what they had witnessed and took to Twitter to rip into Cutelaba for being ‘reckless’ and ‘stupid’.

Here are some of the reactions:

Dana White blamed Sean Shelby for weigh-ins mishap just a while ago

Just a fortnight ago, a similar incident happened during the weigh-ins. In fact it was far worse than the Jacoby – Cutelaba one. Jeremy Stephens almost did something similar, as he shoved his opponent Drakkar Klose with full force.

The whiplash resulted in Klose suffering a severe neck injury and the fight had to be pulled out. White then blamed matchmaker Sean Shelby for letting that happen, saying that he had missed that one.

White even went on to state that a matchmaker’s job was to ensure there are no mishaps during such times. But now, White has found himself in a very similar situation.

The UFC must do something before things get out-of-hand.
