Eddie Alvarez has only positive things to say after Khabib Nurmagomedov announced his UFC retirement

It has been a few months since Khabib Nurmagomedov announced his UFC retirement after beating Justin Gaethje at UFC 254. Since then, UFC president Dana White has tried everything he can to get the Russian back in the octagon.

That is yet to happen, with ‘The Eagle’ looking more unlikely than ever to make a comeback. But former UFC lightweight fighter, Eddie Alvarez, respects his decision to call it quits.

‘The Underground King’ spoke to Low Kick MMA earlier this week and spoke about the lightweight champion’s shock decision to call it a day after going 29-0-0 in professional MMA.

“Good on him (Khabib) man, good on him. This is a dangerous life. It’s a stressful life. You know, I’ve been fighting since I was 19-years-old, I’m 37 now.

“When someone could be at peace with themselves and make the money he has, and get out of the danger of the sport, and the stress of the sport… I think it makes for a really good, really good situation.“

The American mentioned how good he feels seeing Khabib content with himself and make it out of the dangerous sport with his health and wealth intact.

Khabib Nurmagomedov does not look like making a return after UFC retirement

Alvarez’s comments come after he was confident during his UFC days that he had the neccessary skillset to defeat Nurmagomedov.

The two, unfortunately, never fought. Alvarez now fights in ONE Championship in Singapore, while Khabib seems happily retired.

White has made his intentions clear of wanting Khabib back. And why wouldn’t he want that? The numbers that his return fight could garner would be insane.

But that doesn’t seem like happening. Khabib seems content with his decision to retire albeit his manager and UFC president forcing him to return.

And one of his potential opponents on his return, one deemed worthy enough to force Khabib into making a return, Georges St-Pierre, has stated his intention of not wanting to make a comeback to the sport himself.
