Dustin Poirier and Nate Diaz have been going back and forth on Twitter

Dustin Poirier and Nate Diaz have been trading barbs on social media. The ‘West Coast Gangster’ recently had his contract extended by the UFC.

In the wake of this Diaz called out Poirier for a fight in January. Posting a picture of the two facing off in 2019 ahead of their fight (cancelled), Diaz wrote:

“I’ll fight Dp in January don’t be a scared lil b*tch this time now or never.”

Poirier’s reply appeared like he was ready for the fight. ‘The Diamond’ also channeled his inner Conor McGregor in his reply.

His Tweet read:

“1st to shoot is a dusty b*tch.”

Ahead of their trilogy fight in July 2021 at UFC 264, McGregor had fired shots at Poirier stating that the first one to shoot for a taken down is a “dusty b****.”

Poirier went on to win the fight via. TKO by means of a doctor stoppage. He then challenged for the title against Charles Oliveira at UFC 269 but was unsuccessful.

Dustin Poirier and Nate Diaz were set to fight in November 2018

Dustin Poirier and Nate Diaz were scheduled to fight at UFC 230 in November 2018. Despite all the hype, the fight never came to fruition after Poirier suffered an injury a month prior to the fight.

Further attempts to somehow make the fight happen turned out to be futile. Diaz has fought thrice since then. He has beaten Anthony Pettis and lost to Jorge Masvidal and more recently, Leon Edwards.

Poirier, went to become the interim lightweight champion after beating Max Holloway. He then challenged for the title twice and failed – against Khabib Nurmagomedov and Charles Oliveira respectively.
