Dustin Poirier last fought Conor McGregor at UFC 264

Dustin Poirier has been out of action since losing the UFC Lightweight title fight against Charles Oliveira at UFC 269.

The Diamond has been keen on fighting Nate Diaz, but the UFC doesn’t seem keen on that. Another fight is one between Conor McGregor and Poirier. The pair fought twice in 2021 with The Diamond picking up wins both times.

Poirier was answering a fan’s question about his future and he agreed that the UFC was waiting for McGregor to return to full fitness and set up a fourth fight.

McGregor broke his ankle in the UFC 264 loss and claimed that his rivalry with Poirier wasn’t done. The Diamond, for his part, tried to get his hands on the undisputed UFC Lightweight title after that but failed against Oliveira.

McGregor vs. Poirier 4 would be quite a fight. There is a rivalry between them and any fight with the Irishman brings in the big bucks for the UFC.

Dustin Poirier hinting at WWE move?

The Diamond was also asked by a fan about a possible move to WWE. A lot of MMA stars have transitioned to professional wrestling and Poirier didn’t shut the door down on that option either.

Brock Lesnar and Bobby Lashley have been successful in both WWE and MMA. However, the best comparison for Poirier’s case has to be Matt Riddle.

Riddle was an up and coming star in the UFC but was released from the promotion. He then took to pro wrestling like a fish does to water and has picked up several titles in WWE.

Poirier still has some time left in the Octagon, but there is always the option of trying out pro wrestling when his MMA time comes to an end.
