Demetrious Johnson claims Conor McGregor’s approach will decide how Dustin Poirier trilogy will go

The trilogy fight between Conor McGregor and Dustin Poirier is gaining mammoth attention

Conor McGregor vs Dustin Poirier 3 is going to be one of the best-selling UFC PPV events in recent memory.

The stage is perfectly set for the underdog Poirier to win again and stake a claim for the lightweight belt. Or, for the Irishman to return to his best and show that he still has the hunger for success.

And UFC stars just cannot stop weighing in on this blockbuster fight. Earlier this week, former UFC flyweight champion, Demetrious Johnson, was discussing the fight with Helen Yee on YouTube.

And he stated that Dustin Poirier might have the edge because he has been more active than his counterpart, especially during the pandemic.

“I feel like Dustin has been through a lot of wars. He has been battle-tested, I think, through all his fights. During the pandemic, Dan Hooker, you know, he has been putting the work in, he has been putting the hours in whereas Conor hasn’t been as active. And in this game, the more active you are, the better you are gonna be.”

Mighty Mouse thinks the outcome of the Poirier vs McGregor trilogy fight depends on the latter’s approach

And Mighty Mouse added that the tie is evenly balanced at 1-1, but the tie-breaker would be decided by how the former UFC ‘champ champ’ decides to approach the fight.

“It all depends, you know, how Conor approaches this fight. Is he going to work on all aspects of mixed martial arts and not worry about striking? Or is he gonna be fluid like he was the first time; it just all depends on just who shows up.”

DJ is right in his assessment of the fight but gives too much credit to McGregor when it comes to deciding who will win the fight.

Poirier can still outclass the best version of the Irishman and is capable of outsmarting him regardless of his approach. But in MMA, you just can’t tell what will happen on fight night.
