Daniel Cormier and Ariel Helwani are all in for a trilogy fight between Amanda Nunes and Valentina Shevchenko

Valentina Shevchenko and Amanda Nunes are undoubtedly the two biggest names in women’s UFC right now.

Both of them are unstoppable in their divisions. The Brazilian ‘Lioness’ is the UFC women’s featherweight and bantamweight champion.

‘Bullet’, on the other hand, holds the UFC flyweight title. The two have, of course, met in the past.

And Daniel Cormier was talking with ESPN MMA host, Ariel Helwani, if a trilogy fight should happen between the two. Helwani mentioned if Valentina should go for the trilogy fight or not.

“Valentina is fighting April 24th… If she wins, is it time to revisit doing the trilogy? Is it big enough? Is it worth it? Or are we done with the people moving up, all this stuff. She has fought at 135 so it’s a little difficult than easy. Amanda vs Valetnina would be such a great [fight].”

Valentina Shevchenko and Amanda Nunes Nunes trilogy fight is what UFC needs

The pair then discussed how Valentina would be a tough opponent for Nunes who otherwise cruises through her competition.

The Kyrgyzstani and the Brazilian have fought twice before at bantamweight. Nunes comfortably won the first fight in March 2016 at UFC 196.

But the second fight, which Nunes won as well, is the one that left fans wondering if there is enough between the two stars to clearly identify who the better one is.

As DC said in the interview, if Shevchenko won the second fight by decision, then no one would have argued with it as well.

And so, it might be the time that the two revisit this possibility in the future. Nunes steamrolled through Megan Anderson at UFC 259.

Shevchenko has no real competition at 125 as she prepares to take on Jessica Andrade at UFC 261. Maybe its time for one last dance and give the fans what they want.
