The UFC heavyweight scenario heats up as Francis Ngannou will be taking on Ciryl Gane next

Ciryl Gane put on a clinic against Derrick Lewis in the main event of UFC 265 at the Toyota Center in Houston, Texas.

After a measured start, by his standards, Gane upped the ante in the third round by going for the finish.

The knockout artist, Lewis, who was also the more experienced man inside the Octagon, couldn’t land even a proper strike on Gane.

The win earned Gane the interim heavyweight title in only his 10th MMA fight, and he will be taking on Francis Ngannou next for the HW title.

Following Gane’s victory, former UFC heavyweight great Daniel Cormier who called the Gane vs Lewis fight weighed in on Gane vs Ngannou.

Cormier wrote:

“He’s a real problem! I’m super excited about the unification fight! If I am team @francis_ngannou I’m game plan meeting right now! We haven’t seen a heavyweight like this with these abilities!”

Gane would be the most technical opponent Ngannou would have ever faced in his entire UFC career. And the fastest opponent as well. The way Gane switched stances was a thing of beauty.

Taking to Twitter, Ngannou wrote, whilst also acknowledging Gane’s performance:

“Impressive performance from Gane ! He’s now a legit contender. See you soon boy. When you know you know. #ufc265

Time for the clash of the former training partners next.
