Valentina Shevchenko earned yet another dominant victory at UFC 266

Valentina Shevchenko took on Lauren Murphy in the co-main event of UFC 266. The women’s flyweight champ was coming into her sixth title defense fight, after having dominantly defended her title a whopping 5 times.

Right from round 1, Shevchenko began asserting her dominance. Although, she didn’t get as aggressive as she got during her fight against Jessica Andrade at UFC 261, she made sure Murphy didn’t touch her.

Murphy, meanwhile, never really put the pressure on the champ. Valentina was just easing past Murphy in each and every round.

It was only in the fourth round that Murphy tried to bring in more steam and pace to her game. And that was when Shevchenko unleashed her full potential on the challenger.

A check right hook landed flush on Murphy, before Valentina got the finish after a barrage of strikes in half a minute from then. Sixth successive title defense for the Kyrgyzstani-Peruvian.

Valentina Shevchenko amazed everyone. It has almost become a regular happening. No one but, Amanda Nunes has caused trouble to the women’s flyweight champ.

Following her victory, Conor McGregor took to Twitter to congratulate Shevchenko on her success. Calling her tremendous, McGregor wrote:

“Great night of fights. Valentina you are tremendous! @ufc #TheBullet.”

McGregor has been recovering from his ankle injury for which he had undergone surgery. He is expected to be back in the second week of January.
