Conor McGregor was very recently named Forbes’ Highest Paid Athlete for the year 2021

It has been quite an eventful year for McGregor. He made his return to the UFC at UFC 257, and although he lost, it gave him the impetus to stay in the fighting game for quite a while. McGregor pocketed an impressive $22 million for his appearance at UFC 257.

Off the court, it was raining money for the Irishman, due to the sale of his Proper No.12 Whiskey brand to Proximo Spirits. It boosted his earnings by almost $150 million.

And hence, McGregor finished number 1 in the list of Forbes’ Highest-Paid Athletes, ahead of the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo, Lionel Messi and LeBron James.

In the wake of this, an Irish spa manager had posted how big an achievement it was for someone from Ireland. He mentioned that the people of Ireland haven’t actually realized what ‘The Notorious’ had achieved.

McGregor quote tweeting the tweet, explained how much it meant to him. He then went to say that he was hopeful of inspiring a legion of young aspiring athletes.

McGregor tweeted:

“Thank you! I appreciate the message greatly, it means a lot! I know many young aspiring athletes from Ireland will take massive inspiration from this, as well as their supporting parents, and that fills with me pride! Onwards and upwards for the Emerald Isle of Ireland.”

Conor McGregor delighted to see Chris Weidman walking on an anti-gravity treadmill

Chris Weidman shattered his leg two weeks ago at UFC 261 while attempting a leg kick on Uriah Hall. He was rushed to the hospital immediately and was operated the next day.

The All American has been slowly recovering, and now he has already begun walking on an anti-gravity treadmill.

McGregor was happy for Weidman as he took to Twitter exclaiming that it was “excellent to see”.

We hope ‘The All American’ makes a quick recovery like Anderson Silva did back in the day!
