A gut-wrenched and irate McGregor uttered many a foul-mouthed word at the post-fight interview, even as Poirier’s wife flipped the finger at The Irishman.

McGregor underwent surgery the next day and has been recovering ever since.

Elsewhere, his old rival, Jose Aldo who returns to action this week against Pedro Munhoz at UFC 265, spoke to Ag Fight in an interview and addressed ‘The Notorious’ mishap at UFC 264.

Despite all the nastiness that occured between the two in 2015, Aldo revealed that he was upset with McGregor’s injury, before going on to claim that the former two-division champion would fight back.

Aldo told Ag Fight:

“First of all, I’m upset with the injury. It’s quite hard, we work with our body, we try to keep it healthy because that way we can always be working. I think he can [get back to fighting at a high level]. I never doubt the champions, the mind and willpower of the champions. He has dominating before and was the lightweight and featherweight champion. It’s all up to him. If he wants to come back at a high level, he can do it.” [via BJPENN.com]

Conor McGregor and Jose Aldo fought back in 2015

In what was believed to be McGregor’s biggest ever test back then, the Irishman was set to fight then-featherweight champion Jose Aldo for the featherweight title at UFC 194 in December 2015.

McGregor needed just 13 seconds to sting Aldo, as he made his first big stride in the fight game. It was that night at MGM Grand Arena that took McGregor places.

And, Aldo has never looked the same after that fight. He had been on an 18-fight winning streak, and was 10 years unbeaten before coming into UFC 194.
