Conor McGregor has sent out a warning following the development of a new COVID variant in Africa

A new COVID variant, more powerful than the rest has sprung up in Africa. Named the B 1.1529 variant, it has so far been reported in South Africa, Botswana and Hong Kong (South African traveller).

The variant is also said to be vaccine-resistant with an unusual number of spike mutations.

The news comes in the wake of several countries reporting fewer coronavirus cases in recent times.

UFC lightweight Conor McGregor weighed in on the new COVID variant. Taking to Twitter, ‘The Notorious’ pointed out the seriousness of the latest strain.

McGregor wrote:

“Guys did you hear? We’ve to watch out for this Botswana yoke now. It sounds serious. It’s not protected against our vaccines also. “Vaccine laughed at” it said. Crazy! Chances of hitting the deck have now trebled again, so back in your box. This Message directly from tony baloni.

Conor McGregor not convinced with coronavirus vaccines

In yet another deleted Tweet, McGregor expressed his concern over the effectiveness of vaccines against the deadly coronavirus.

The Irishman wrote:

“The vaccines have not worked to stop this whatsoever. More vaccinated than ever. More cases than ever. Re-evaluate this entirely. Stop taking handouts.”

McGregor is currently recovering from the ankle injury he suffered against Dustin Poirier back in July 2021. He is expected to be back early next year.
