Cody Garbrandt made his intentions clear that he had a score to settle with Sean O’Malley

Cody Garbrandt is ready to switch a weight class yet another time. This time to whoop surging bantamweight star, Sean O’Malley.

‘No Love’ recently stepped down to the flyweight division. He made his debut against Kai Kara-France at UFC 269 and was knocked out in the very first round. Not the debut that he wanted.

However, during the UFC 269 pre-fight presser he earned a new rival in O’Malley. The two had to be separated by the security or else things would have turned ugly.

Speaking in his YouTube channel (Rollin with the Homies podcast) Garbrandt acknowledged O’Malley’s skills but made it clear that he had scores to settle with ‘Sugar.’

He was quoted as saying:

“You’ve got to respect his skills. He levelled up a bit for the Raulian fight. [He] caught him early on, but we knew that the only way he was going to win was catching him early on and he did that. He did his job. Hats off to him.” [via MMA Fighting]

He continued:

“He’s in the rankings now. The rankings are the rankings but he’s ranked now, so I’d have to go back up to 35 to whoop his ass. We’ll decide. We’ll figure it out.” [via MMA Fighting]

Cody Garbrandt – back against the wall?

Cody Garbrandt has been on a poor run of form. The former bantamweight champion has won just one fight since 2017. He has lost 5.

Currently, on a two-fight skid and a flyweight debut going wrong, Garbrandt will be looking forward to getting back to winning ways.

Failing to get out of the rut could possibly spell doom.
