Ciryl Gane vs Francis Ngannou should be set up for the undisputed UFC Heavyweight title

Booker T shared his thoughts on the future of the UFC Heavyweight division and which fight made more sense.

Ciryl Gane won the interim UFC Heavyweight title at UFC 265 after defeating Derrick Lewis by dominating the American.

The Frenchman is now set for a clash with the Heavyweight champion, Francis Ngannou. However, Jon Jones is also somewhere in the mix.

Jones is one of the biggest names in the UFC but Booker suggested that Ngannou vs Gane was the bigger fight to make.

T also claimed that the PPV buys from Africa and France would be enough to outsell any other PPV in the history of the promotion and that was why the fight would be so big:

“I beg to differ. I think the bigger fight is Francis [Ngannou] and Cyril [Gane] because, you remember when I said the reason why this deal was being done?

“This is about France and Africa. It is going to be a lot of people on the Jon Jones bandwagon and love to see the fight but it will be no more money made than a Cyril Gane fight with an Ngannou when you have the country of Africa and France.

“Everybody gonna buy the PPV. That will be the biggest money PPV in the history of the UFC if they put that fight on right there, that is just my opinion, that is why it is a bigger fight than Jon Jones.”

A first African UFC PPV?

It would make sense to take the UFC out of the US for a Gane vs Ngannou fight. Ngannou still has his roots in Cameroon and is huge in Africa.

Gane became the first Frenchman to hold a UFC title, even if it is an interim one. Further, UFC champions Kamaru Usman and Israel Adesanya also have roots in Africa.

It is to be seen if the UFC does shift away from the US for this clash. They have held events in several countries and continents but an African PPV would be something special.
