Big E named several UFC stars like Daniel Cormier, Israel Adesanya and even Francis Ngannou who could do well in WWE
Intercontinental Champion, Big E, was the latest guest on the Ariel Helwani show. E, who has been on quite a run since being traded away from the New Day, has a tough battle against Apollo Crews at WrestleMania 37.
However, the New Day member was here to speak about his love affair with MMA. Helwani was surprised as to how deep E’s knowledge was of MMA and the WWE star also claimed that the sport was one of his favourites.
E also brought up how Daniel Cormier has been talking smack with Roman Reigns. The retired UFC star and Reigns have been involved in a verbal duel for a while.
DC isn’t the only one who E thinks will make a mark in WWE. Helwani asked the WWE star who else could switch over and E named Israel Adesanya as one of the stars:
“I know your boy, DC, has been, I know y’all have been lobbying to do something. We got to cash in at one point.
“Actually, I met him briefly at the Staples Center years ago.
“I feel like Israel [Adesanya] is an easy choice as far as a crossover, just a big personality. I am trying to think of someone else, who would work well.”
Colby Covington is a tough subject for Big E
Helwani then spoke about Colby Covington and the characters that he could play. However, Big E steered clear of all this, given how controversial Covington is.
E also added that his values didn’t match with the UFC star’s at all. The IC Champion believed it could have worked in a different era.
Helwani then threw the name of Francis Ngannou, the new UFC Heavyweight champion. Ngannou defeated Stipe Miocic to win the gold and is considered as one of the most dangerous men on the planet.
E was happy with the Ngannou name and even without microphone skills, the IC Champion suggested the UFC star could be a Paul Heyman guy.
“I like that, maybe, he could be a Heyman guy. I am into that.”
Ngannou and Adesanya currently hold the UFC Heavyweight and Middleweight titles, respectively. The pair are two of three Africa-born champions and it will be interesting to see if they ever make a move to WWE.
There are several talents that have moved from MMA to WWE. Matt Riddle is one of the most successful stories and is the current United States champion.
Shayna Baszler, Ronda Rousey and Sonya Deville also had MMA experience before making their mark in WWE.
