“Makes me sad” – Ali Abdelaziz shares advice for Jon Jones after recent negotiation problems

Jon Jones has been in the thick of things after making his switch to the heavyweight division

The undisputed king of the light-heavyweight division, Jon Jones relinquished his title last year in a bid to move up to the heavyweight division. He eventually did so in August 2020, and has packed on a lot of pounds since then.

Jones regularly has been posting training videos in his heavyweight form, despite not having a clear view about his future in the division. Bones still hasn’t found himself an opponent to fight against.

Jones has been largely tipped to fight Heavyweight champ Francis Ngannou soon, but a payment dispute with UFC President Dana White has been a thing of worry for him.

White and Jones have been going on and off on social media since Jones demanded a huge fight purse (rumoured to be $30 million) for fighting Ngannou.

It led to a point where the UFC and White decided to hand that fight over to Derrick Lewis.

Dominance MMA CEO Ali Abdelaziz had a piece of advice for Jones, regarding the negotiation situation.

Speaking in an interview with ESPN’s Brett Okamoto, Abelaziz felt that Jones is misunderstood a lot and that he is a decent human being, unlike how he is usually portrayed.

Here is what Abdelaziz had to say to Jones:

“You are a legend, you are the pound-for-pound number one, one of the greatest ever. You should not have to go on Twitter to defend yourself. It makes me sad… Dana’s (White) is not hard to deal with. Everybody thinks he’s a three horned monster. He’s not! He’s actually a decent guy, and you’re a decent guy [too]. Sit with him, have a dinner, you and him, one on one. I guarantee you these two gentlemen will find a solution.”

Jon Jones and First Round Management part ways

Jon Jones and his management team First Round Management, owned by renowned sports agent Malki Kawa and his brother Abe Kawa, have parted ways, after 11 long years.

They had been a part of Jones’ journey even before he became the light-heavyweight champion for the first time.

Many wondered if the split was due to Jones’ recent payment dispute with the UFC.

However, Malki Kawa cleared the air on the controversy surrounding it saying that it had nothing to do with the ‘Francis Ngannou negotiations’.
