Ben Askren and Jake Paul finally have a date for their pro boxing match

The boxing match between Jake Paul and Ben Askren will take on April 17, 2021. It will be fought under the Triller Fight Club banner, but the location of the PPV is yet to be announced.

Paul vs Askren will serve as the main event. Paul, a YouTube sensation, has fought two professional boxing matches before. However, none of them has been against professional fighters.

Askren, on the other hand, retired from MMA last year after announcing that he would need hip surgery. He is currently under the contract of UFC and has supposedly gotten their permission for this bout.

Funky is, of course, a wrestler. While he is a very successful MMA fighter, he was never known for his boxing skills. That is not to say that Jake Paul is an expert himself.

And UFC lightweight fighter Al Iaquinta says that he wants Askren to use his wrestling skills to hand Jake Paul a beating, even if it means him getting disqualified.

Al Iaquinta wants Askren to ‘ground and pound’ Jake Paul in their boxing match

Iaquinta took to his Twitter account and stated that Askren is already “retired”, and thus, should just keep flooring Paul again and again without any worries.

“It would be great if Ben just kept taking this guy down. Like bro I’m retired I don’t care disqualify me you ain’t landing shit, ground and pound, done”

That is obviously something you can’t do in a boxing match. And it is also pretty obvious that Raging‘s comment were meant as a joke.

Askren has had an immensely decorated career. The former Bellator welterweight champion, 2008 Olympian, and two-time NCAA wrestling champion would, however, be wiser than doing that.

He would know that a lot is on the line in this fight. Losing is simply not an option for him, and he could pay the price if he doesn’t take this fight seriously.
