Herro played college basketball for the University of Kentucky from 2018 to 2019. In his college career, Herro played 37 games, averaging 14.0 points, 2.5 assists, and 4.5 rebounds per game. Subsequently, Herro was named an All-Freshman First Team selection by Basketball Times as well as the Southeastern Conference Rookie of the Year by the Associated Press.
