Eugenie Bouchard is part of the Canada team that faces a tough Switzerland side in the Fed Cup

Canada don’t have an easy task in their Fed Cup qualifier against Switzerland but Eugenie Bouchard wants the team to fight it out.

The 25-year-old has had her ups and downs in tennis but reached the final of Wimbledon in 2014.

Bouchard is yet to lift a Grand Slam in her career, but she has the capability of winning games if she plays at her best.

Canada are ranked lower than the Swiss and also have to play away. That is a daunting task for any side and Bouchard spoke about that clash.

The 25-year-old suggested that Canada have to play as the underdogs ahead of the matches:

“I believe in our team. We have to go in with the underdog mentality and try to fight.”

The Swiss have the edge going into the clash

Playing at home is a huge boost for any side but the Swiss also have the edge when it comes to rankings.

Belinda Bencic is the star for the home side, with a singles ranking of 5 while Canada have Bianca Andreescu, who is ranked 6.

The Swiss also have better players when it comes to doubles and it will be interesting to see how the match-days go on 7 and 8 February.

Bouchard will be in action for the second rubber as she takes on Bencic, and that should be an incredible match.

All hope isn’t lost for Canada though, they hold a 3-2 lead over the Swiss in head-to-heads.

The away side have the capability to spring a surprise, however, they will have to be at their best and avoid making errors.
