Tottenham Opinion: Julian Draxler would be a massive coup for Spurs

According to a recent report by The Mirror, Ligue 1 giants Paris Saint Germain are said to have offered Mauricio Pochettino’s Tottenham side the chance to sign German star Julian Draxler this summer in the view of potentially replacing the outbound Christian Eriksen.

It has been suggested that the Danish international has expressed his desire to find new challenger and a move away from north London seems imminent.

It has been suggested that Real Madrid and Inter Milan are both keen on the Danish international’s signature but the man himself has publicly stated his respect for Los Blancos.

While a move to Real Madrid with a year left on his contract could mean that Tottenham would end up with a fairly big chunk of money, the way in which they reinvest will decide the shape of their future.

Eriksen has been the key to everything positive that Mauricio Pochettino’s men have done over the last few seasons. His movement and passing in midfield is what made it possible for the likes of Harry Kane, Son Heung-Min and Dele Alli to flourish the way they did.

His pinpoint passes into the box added to the fact that he can strike a mean ball from distance makes him the complete midfield package and replacing that, certainly isn’t going to be any easy task.

Although the report is suggesting that Spurs have set their eyes on Real Betis’ Argentine star Giovani Lo Celso. It has been claimed that the La Liga outfit have already rejected a fairly large bid from the London club. It would be smart on their part to turn their attention instead to Paris Saint Germain midfielder Julian Draxler.

The youngster was once touted to become one of the best midfielders in the world and although he hasn’t quite lived up to that, he does have his shining qualities.

His ability to move the ball and keep defenders at bay using his strength helps him control the middle of the park. He passes the ball extremely well and has a knack for finding the perfect turn to beat an approaching defender.

He works quite hard off the ball too and he is capable of scoring the off spectacular from distance. Last season, he played in 22 league games and managed to pick up 3 goals and 8 assists.

Draxler has 49 caps for the German national team and that certainly is a massive endorsement of his quality. His attributes seem to be well suited to the Premier League and making a move to join Mauricio Pochettino’s project at Tottenham will always be a tempting proposal.

Spurs look like they’ve accepted that Eriksen’s time in London is up and in that case, they need to look no further than the German Julian Draxler to find a readymade replacement.
