Why Tottenham signing Ryan Fraser on a free transfer would be quite beneficial

Bournemouth have confirmed that winger Ryan Fraser has declined a short-term contract extension and is free to leave the club after his contract expires this month.

Fraser who joined the club in 2013, hasn’t been in impressive form this season, having scored just once for his team in 32 appearances. This is a slump from his previous campaign where the winger found the net 7 times and also made 14 assists.

A year ago, the Daily Star had reported that Tottenham were interested in signing the winger, but the move never materialized.

Why Tottenham should revive their interest in Fraser

First and foremost, the Scotsman is now out of contract after rejecting a new deal and is a free agent. And this would mean Tottenham pay nothing for the transfer.

In terms of his play, the player has shown that he is great with his feet and his dribbling skills have been witnessed during his time with Bournemouth. At Tottenham, the productivity of the player can rise and the player is a great option for Spurs as he can operate on the wings and also as a second striker.

The Scottish winger has been a great threat as he has displayed the ability to put in great crosses. This could help the likes of Harry Kane and Son Heung-min up front. Fraser is also just 26 and Tottenham can enjoy his prime.

There could be concerns that the player hasn’t been in top form as compared to last year but has still provided 4 assists and scored once in a team that is battling relegation.

However, the player can provide great cover to a club like Tottenham. Tottenham have largely relied on Harry Kane and Son Heung-min. Hence, a new arrival can offer more support. Moura and Lamela haven’t featured often and their performances haven’t been consistent enough to keep them in the playing XI every week.

Signing Fraser will give the club an additional option, especially with a lot of uncertainty around Lamela’s future at the club.

Tottenham though, could see a battle for his signature as Metro have mentioned on an Arsenal transfer link. Nevertheless, Tottenham would be better off signing the Scottish ace as this is a free transfer that could help them in the attack next season.
