WWE Superstar Toni Storm is released by the company

Toni Storm left WWE just days after challenging Charlotte Flair for the SmackDown Women’s Championship, which she apparently lost. The Fans were hoping for a rematch at WWE Day 1, but it seems like that is not supposed to happen anytime soon.

Storm’s release was first reported by Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful, who later added that she had asked for a departure from the company. However, Sapp mentioned that he was making an effort to reach out to all the close ones and said that the reason was not budget cuts.

“Those that I spoke to within WWE believe Toni Storm asked for her release from the company, though I’m also making an effort to reach out to those close to her. The memo that went out did not list budget cuts as the reason, as has been a tradition of late.”

Toni’s exit will come as a surprise to the fans as she had been heavily featured on SmackDown in recent weeks and successfully defeated the SmackDown Women’s Champion in some tag team option.

“I was just cruising along in NXT minding my own business, and I got called in for a few dark matches and didn’t overthink of it, didn’t want to get too excited because every time, it never works out, “Did a few dark rounds, did my best, and then next thing I know, I’m on SmackDown, and it’s been a crazy ride ever since. My whole life has changed. I’m a different person, a whole different being.

Storm is the first non-Japanese wrestler to hold its world title. She has also held Stardom’s SWA World Championship for a record-setting reign of 612 days.
