Pep Guardiola is widely regarded as one of the greatest football managers of all time. He transformed Manchester City with his footballing philosophy and changed their fortunes within a short time.

Having a lead of 14 points in the table, Pep Guardiola’s side are looking like the most likely winners of the league title this season. And this seems like a good time to and bet on the chances of City.

1- First treble in Spanish football

Barcelona were not performing well when Pep Guardiola first took the hot seat at Camp Nou in 2008. The Catalans had not won a trophy in two years, with Real Madrid taking the two previous domestic crowns. However, their fortunes changed dramatically once the Spaniard took charge of the club.

Guardiola took some bold decisions and transformed their playing style. The result was the Catalans achieved enormous success in Pep’s first season. They finished nine points ahead of Real to clinch the La Liga title while they also emerged victorious in the Champions League final against Manchester United to claim the European crown. They achieved the first treble in Spanish football history by winning the Copa del Rey as well.

2- Domestic doubles in Germany

After his success in Spain, Pep Guardiola took his footballing philosophy to Germany when he became the manager of Bayern Munich. And his magic worked in the Bundesliga too as he won the league title every season he was there.

Although he failed to win the European Cup during his time at the Allianz Arena, the Spaniard led the Bavarians to two domestic doubles which is also quite a remarkable feat.

3- Hundred points in a season

Winning the Premier League is one of the hardest tasks for any coach in the world. Pep Guardiola set himself to achieve this goal when he took the job at Manchester City. And within a year, the Spanish coach managed to establish one of the best teams in the history of the English top-flight.

During the 2017-18 season, the Cityzens went on crushing one opponent after another and were so dominant that they looked close to emulating Arsenal’s Invincibles record. Although City failed to go an entire league campaign undefeated, they did manage to decide the fate of the Premier League title long before the end of the season.

They tumbled many records on their way to success but attaining 100 points was chief among them all. That season, City also won the League Cup and reached the quarter-finals of the Champions League.
