Throwback: When Wayne Gretzky, Bjorn Borg, Pele, and Sugar Ray Leonard competed in a 100-meter race

It is quite a spectacle for fans when legends from different sports come together for an event.

In 1982, fans witnessed a memorable moment when four absolute greats of different sports came together. An old video resurfaced on the internet a few days back where Wayne Gretzky, Bjorn Borg, Pele, and Sugar Ray Leonard can be seen competing against each other in a 100-meter race.

As per reports, when the video was shot, Gretzky was 21 years old, Borg and Ray Leonard were 26 years old, and Pele was 42 years old. For those of you who don’t know, Gretzky is a former Canadian ice hockey player, Ray Leonard was a former professional boxer from America. Borg played tennis and represented Sweden. Brazilian Pele is one of the greatest footballers of all time.

They all gave each other healthy competition, showing their never-say-die attitude. After the end of the race, Pele was seen congratulating Gretzky in a heartwarming gesture.

Bjorn Borg won 11 Grand Slam titles during the course of his career. His first title came at the 1974 French Open when he defeated Manuel Orantes in the final. Borg went on to win five more French Open titles in the years 1975, 1978, 1979, 1980, and 1981.

The Stockholm-born star also won the Wimbledon title on 5 occasions and all of them came in consecutive years. The first time he won Wimbledon was in 1976.
