Novak Djokovic broke another record by finishing the year as No.1

Novak Djokovic dream year just keeps on getting better and better as he has broken yet another record despite missing out on the ATP tour ending title. Djokovic ended the 2021 season with three Grand Slams that included Australian Open, French Open and Wimbledon.

He reached the US Open final as well but lost to World No.2 Daniil Medvedev in straight sets.

According to the latest press release by the ATP – Djokovic earned a record seventh year-end No. 1 finish, as he broke the record from legendary Pete Sampras. On the other hand, 20-time Grand Slam champion Rafael Nadal finished in the Top 10 for a record 17th consecutive year at No. 6. He broke the record of Jimmy Connors.

Djokovic’s quest for a record-equaling sixth ATP Finals title was ended by third seed Alexander Zverev in a high-quality semi-final last week. But despite the loss Serbian said he had a very good season and is satisfied with the same.

He said that he could’ve done better in other ATP events, but winning the Paris Masters and making it to the semis in Turin is a good end to the season.

“Well, it was a great season, no doubt. I mean, I did not play many tournaments, but still managed to end the year at No. 1 for the seventh time, broke records for the year-end No. 1, historic No. 1, won three out of four slams.”
