Serena Williams is a 23-time Grand Slam winner and one of the stalwarts of the sport – sister Venus cheers for her

The 40-year-old last played at the Wimbledon last year. She was forced to give a walkover during her first-round match against Aliaksandra Sasnovich due to a leg injury.
After being out of action for a year, Serena Williams finally returned to the Eastbourne International Doubles competition. She teamed with Ons Jabeur of Tunisia and defeated the team of Sara Sirrbes Tormo and Marie Bouzkova 2-6, 6-3, 13-11 in the first round.

The duo will take on the team of Chan Hao-ching of Taiwan and Shuko Aoyama of Japan in the quarterfinals. The Asian duo defeated Sania Mirza and Lucie Hradecka in the first round.
There were rumors surrounding Williams’ retirement but she has squashed them all and returned right before the Wimbledon. She has been given a wildcard to compete in the singles event at Wimbledon. She is just one Grand Slam triumph short of equalling Margaret Court’s record of 24 major singles victories.
A proud elder sister Venus Williams cheered on Serena and shared a story on her Instagram account with the caption: “The boss is back in town”.

Good to see Serena Williams partner with Africa's rising star, @Ons_Jabeur. That is monumental, if not historical. Hopefully that winning experience from Serena can rub off Ons, to become a multiple grand slam winner too. https://t.co/nB4e2ryPGs

@serenawilliams first match was perfect for her. Got behind early first time feeling that in a year. Lost her first set in a year. First time winning a set in a year. Felt a different roller coaster pressure in a year. Felt victory first time a year.😍GO MEEK!
