World No.2 Rafael Nadal overcame Kwon Soon-woo 6-2, 6-1 in the quarterfinals at Acapulco

Rafael Nadal grabbed the headlines when he pulled off a crazy shot against South Korean Kwon Soon-woo in the quarterfinals of the Mexico Open.

Nadal is currently participating in the ATP 500 tournament held in Acapulco and looks to be in fine form.

The Spaniard did not have to toil hard unlike his last game as he overcame Soon-woo 6-2, 6-1 to register a comfortable win.

However, it was for other reasons that Nadal made the news this time. Not for the first time in his career, the Spaniard pulled off a crazy shot in the opening set to win a point, when scores read 5-2.

The former World No.1 looked to be on fire as he replied to Kwon Soon-woo’s nearly impossible return with ease.

Nadal, who is known for his vicious forehands with great top-spin played a different shot this time to earn a point.

This time he played a one-handed flying backhand while contorting his body.

Nadal enters last four

Nadal reached the semi-finals in Mexico after overcoming top-ranked South Korean Kwon Soon-woo.

The Spanish ace will next face his friend and on-court rival Grigor Dimitrov of Bulgaria. Nadal’s opponent Dimitrov also seems to be in good form as he beat third-seed Stan Wawrinka 6-4, 6-4 to set up a clash with the Spaniard.

Nadal, on the other hand, has a superb 12-1 head-to-head record against Dimitrov. The last time both of them faced each other, the Spaniard emerged supreme beating the 28-year-old Dimitrov at the Monte Carlo Masters.

Meanwhile, Dimitrov, won his last and only match against Nadal way back in 2016 in Beijing.
