Novak Djokovic has shown his class despite losing the 2021 US Open final

Novak Djokovic took to twitter to appreciate the US Open winners. Djokovic lost his US Open final against Daniil Medvedev but stayed classy in defeat. On Twitter he said:

“Congratulations to both Champions, Amazing fairytale story on woman’s side with two teenagers competing in the finals. Emma you are fantastic. Daniil you absolutely deserve your first Grand Slam title”

It did not look to be Djokovic’s day in the finals. The Serb lost all three sets to Medvedev 6-4, 6-4, 6-4. The Serb, however, got the better of Medvedev at this year’s Australian Open finals where he beat the Russian.

This has also marked Medvedev’s first Grand Slam title as mentioned by Djokovic in the tweet. Medvedev will surely not get over it anytime soon.

Emma Raducanu makes history

Emma Raducanu won the US Open by beating Lylah Fernandez in the finals. The 18 year old made her way in to the main draw through the qualifiers. She also became the first player ever to win a Grand Slam by entering through the qualifiers. Throughout her campaign she only lost one set and was dominant throughout.

Raducanu also became the first British woman to win a Grand Slam in 44 years. She has received praise from all over the world, including The Queen of England. Her heroics in the tournament have been appreciated by everyone.

Not to forget this was her first Grand Slam victory at the age of 18 and her talented will surely be rewarded with many more in the future.
