Nick Kyrgios and Stefanos Tsitsipas teamed up as doubles partners for the Diriyah Tennis Cup
Nick Kyrgios and Tsitsipas indulged in some banter on social media before teaming up as doubles partners at the Diriyah Tennis Cup. Both players were paired up after losing their respective opening matches in the singles at the Diriyah Tennis Cup exhibition tournament. The losing players were placed into four teams for a consolidation doubles draw, and the 27 and 24-year-old found themselves partnering up for the second semi-final.
Unfortunately, Kyrgios and Tsitsipas lost their match to Hubert Hurkacz and Dominic Stricker 7-6, 7-6. There were speculations that they do not share a good relationship especially after Tsitsipas called Kyrgios a ‘bully’, earlier this year. However, they did manage to entertain fans both on and off the court.
After the draw was announced, Kyrgios tweeted: “Doubles with tsitsi tonight.” “Who would have thought”, the Greek star jokingly responded. Kyrgios then came up with a witty reply: “2 of the best in the world chances were always very slim.”

Kyrgios and Tsitsipas share a frosty relationship and have been involved in several altercations over the years. The pair first exchanged words on social media in 2018 but appeared to have got over it when they teamed up as doubles partners at the Washington Open. However, things got worse when Tsitsipas accused the Australian of being a ‘bully’ and ‘evil’, earlier this year.
The Australian even got into a nasty altercation with Tsitsipas’ mother after she accused him of playing ‘dirty’ Tennis. Kyrgios then hit back and mocked those comments on social media. However, after yesterday’s doubles match, fans would hope that things have got a bit better between the two players.
