Andy Murray defeated local lad Kokkinakis 4-6, 6-7, 7-6, 6-3, 7-5 in a match that lasted five hours and 45 minutes

Andy Murray pulled off one of the most insane comebacks of all time, last night at the Margaret Court Arena. The veteran Brit displayed all of his class and experience, winning a thrilling encounter after going two sets down against Australia’s Thanasi Kokkinakis. This win makes Murray the player with the most comeback wins (11) after going two sets down, ahead of Roger Federer, Boris Becker and Aaron Krickstein (10).

Murray and Kokkinakis’ match lasted for 5 hours and 45 minutes and ended roughly around 4 am Australian time. Murray was elated and understandably exhausted after the marathon match but thanked the fans for staying there till the end. “Amazingly people stayed until the end, and I really appreciate people doing that and creating an atmosphere for us. Some people obviously need to work the following day and everything”, he said in the post-match interview. Murray will now face Spain’s Roberto Bautista Agut in the third round tomorrow.
