Paula Badosa is making news at the Indian Wells Masters 2022; who are the tennis sensation’s parents?
24-year-old Paula Badosa currently defeated Leylah Annie Fernandez at the Round of 16 in the Indian Wells Masters. The encounter saw Badosa win by 6-4 and 6-4.
The World Singles no.7 entered the tournament on a not so disappointing note after losing to Coco Gauff in the Qatar Open Round of 16. She had lost to her by 2-6 and 3-6.
However, Badosa started her Indian Wells Master tournament on a very high note. She drove past through every opponent she faced. She defeated Sara Sorribes Tormo in the Round of 32. The Spaniard won against Tormo by a fair margin.
Next she faced Leylah Fernandez and gave tough fight to her. Both the youngsters are acclaimed players of the game. In the end Badosa zoomed past her opponent to reach the Quarter-final. She would be facing Veronika Kudermetova tomorrow in the QF round.
Badosa currently resides near and trains in Barcelona, which is close to her hometown of Begur in the Costa Brava.
Paula Badosa’s family and boyfriend
Badosa was born in Manhattan, New York to parents Mireia Gibert and Josep Badosa. Both of her parents worked in the fashion industry. Badosa’s tennis career kicked off when she moved to Barcelona at the age of 7, with her parents.
Due to the presence of her parents in the fashion world, Badosa aspired to become a model, however, she took the sports route.
It is worth noting that Badosa speaks several languages which includes Spanish, English, Catalan and French.
As for Badosa’s boyfriend, initially not much was known, although veterinarian-cum-model Joshua Sorrentino is the only noteworthy male who has appeared in her social media posts.
However, things have changed for the Spanish star as she is dating an actor. Badosa is in a relationship with Cuban actor/model Juan Betancourt.
Betancourt is a versatile actor and has featured in several movies, some of which are also available on Netflix. The pair have reportedly been dating from 2021 and Badosa even shared a few pictures of the two on his Instagram account.
While not a lot is available regarding Betancourt, his IMDB profile confirms that he has acted in a series called Toy Boy. He has also played himself in several shows such as MasterChef Celebrity, however, that is all there is when it comes to his movies and appearances.
Other reports suggest that Betancourt has appeared in top magazines such as GQ Espana and GQ Brazil. Betancourt has also been snapped in some of Badosa’s matches, and it will be interesting to see what the pair are up to in 2022.
