Emma Raducanu has been out of action since the Stuttgart Open due to a recurring injury – what is her current status and update?

Emma Raducanu updated fans on social media that she has undergone a successful surgery on her wrists and ankle. However, she will miss this year’s French Open and Wimbledon as she needs time to recover from her recurring bone injuries. Raducanu has struggled with injuries for close to two years now and it has affected her performances since her US Open triumph in 2021.

Raducanu took to Twitter last night to share the news with her fans. She attached a picture of herself on the hospital bed following the surgery and letter which contained a long message for all her fans and followers across the globe. “It is safe to say the last 10 months have been difficult as I dealt with a recurring injury to a bone of both hands. I’m having a minor procedure done on both hands to resolve the issues. I’m disappointed to share that I will be out for the next few months and while I am at it will have another minor procedure that is due on my ankle”, the message reads.

This setback also implies that Raducanu will drop out from the Top 100 of the WTA women’s singles rankings in the upcoming weeks.

Did Emma Raducanu’s recurring injury affect her performances?

Raducanu’s performance graph has gone down rapidly since her triumph at Flushing Meadows in 2021. She had been going through a seriously rough patch in her professional career before her surgery. She burst onto the scene a couple of years back when she won the US Open women’s singles title as an underdog teenager but everything has gone downhill since then. Raducanu is currently ranked World No.85 in the WTA rankings after a series of inconsistent results and she will drop further as she is set to miss a number of upcoming tournaments.

Despite the drop in performances, Raducanu still remains one of the most marketable athletes in the world. The media frenzy surrounding the Brit and the public interest has resulted in Raducanu gaining a number of high-profile endorsements such as luxury brands Tiffany and Dior with Evian being her latest one.

She has become one of the highest-paid athletes in a very short span of time. Raducanu’s popularity net worth and brand value continue to soar with each passing year. According to estimates by experts, Raducanu is very likely to join the exclusive list of billionaire athletes in the future.
