Emma Raducanu won her first match in the Australian Open 2022 and has qualified for the next round
Emma Raducanu marked her Australian Open debut with an impressive win. The 19-year-old has been struggling to gain momentum ever since winning the US Open, however, she just got back to winning ways at the right time. Raducanu faced off against Sloane Stephens in the first round of the tournament and also marked an impressive win.
Her first-ever set in the Australian Open was a remarkable one as she went on to win the first set by 0-6. Raducanu ended up losing the second set 6-2 as Stephens also gained some momentum. However, it wasn’t enough to bother the 19-year-old and she won the third set in a dominant fashion 1-6 to mark an amazing win.
Emma Raducanu is set to take on Danka Kovinic in the second round of the Australian Open on 20th January. Raducanu would certainly hope to carry forward her winning momentum and proceed further in the tournament. However, she won’t find the route easy as she will face tough competition throughout the tournament as she progresses. It remains to be seen how the 19-year-old does in the Australian Open.
