Tennis stars Evert and Bouchard appear to be die-hard fans of Canadian musician Celine Dion

Rolling Stones’ list of 200 greatest singers of all time hasn’t gone down well with tennis stars Chris Evert and Eugenie Bouchard. The duo seems to be shocked at the exclusion of one of their favourite singers, Celine Dion. Dion is an internationally-acclaimed singer and has delivered hits in various languages including French, English, Spanish, Italian, German, Japanese and Chinese.

Both Evert and Bouchard expressed their shock on Twitter. “Blasphemy“, wrote Bouchard while Evert quoted her and tweeted: “Not in the top 200? She should be in the top 10! Somebody fell asleep at the wheel.” It’s evident that both of them are big fans of Dion. It is worth mentioning that Dion is the best-selling Canadian recording artist and the best-selling French-language artist of all time.

Dion is also one of the best-selling music artists of all time, with record sales of more than 200 million worldwide. In 2010, the Canadian was recognized by the Los Angeles Times as that decade’s top-earning artist, with combined album sales and concert revenue exceeding US$747 million.

Fans react to Chris Evert and Eugenie Bouchard’s comments on Twitter

Let us take a look at some of the reactions from fans on Twitter.

“The Rolling Stone’s list is a travesty. Three voices that any competent list would put in the top ten are Ella Fitzgerald, Barbra Streisand and Celine”, wrote a fan who agrees with the duo.

“Strange decision on Celine but they managed to get a publicity for there stunt… maybe that’s the point of that @geniebouchard”, wrote another fan.

“Well since they think Mariah Carey is on the top 10, no one should want to be on that list anyways”, read a tweet.

“Luckily the general public knows better. Celine is definitely in the top 10 & I’m bewildered why she would not be on the list. Not that the list is all that important in the scheme of things”, tweeted another fan.

Another fan wrote: “I would agree with this as it goes more for genre. Aretha Franklin was number 1 and rightfully so. She still has one of the greatest songs of all time.”
