Unfortunately for Ruud and the local fans, Norway suffered a 3-1 defeat to Kazakhstan. Ruud had a chance to force a fifth and deciding rubber but he suffered a 6-4 5-7 6-4 loss to Bublik.“We’re a young team, we will try to develop and keep going,” Ruud said, “Just because we lost this match doesn’t mean we will stop fighting or trying.

It’s obviously disappointing because we were trying to reach a step we’ve never been to before. We will play another match, probably this fall, and see if we can come back and put ourselves in this position again next year. That will be the goal now”. [via daviscup.com]
