Dominic Thiem vs Richard Gasquet

Dominic Thiem’s form coming into the match

2019 champion Dominic Thiem will command the lion’s share of attention at his home tournament, where he begins his challenge against French veteran Richard Gasquet. The former US Open winner is on a resurgent run, having made the quarterfinals in Bastad and the semifinals in Gstaad. Thiem is coming into this event on home turf after a disappointing semi-final loss against Matteo Berrettini at the Swiss Open.

Richard Gasquet’s form coming into the match

Gasquet is in decent touching coming into the Austrian Open. Last month, he made it to the semi-final of the Challenger event in Lyon and then did well to progress till the third round at Wimbledon. He suffered a Round of 16 exits in the previous event – the Swiss Open and will be keen to make a mark in Austria.

Head to head and Predictions

Thiem and Gasquet have faced each other three times before on the ATP tour. Gasquet leads 2-1 on head to head but it was Thiem, who won their previous encounter in 2019. We are predicting a win in three sets for the home favourite, Dominic Thiem.

Cristian Garin vs Federico Coria

Cristian Garin’s form coming into the match

Garin has been in good touch of late and is one to watch out for in Austria. The Chilean star made it to the quarter-finals of Wimbledon last month before losing to eventual finalist Nick Kyrgios. However, Garin had a shock first-round exit in his previous tournament – the Swiss Open.

Federico Coria’s form coming into the match

Coria is set to play his sixth different tournament in the past month – that’s one heck of a schedule! His performances have been quite underwhelming and are coming into this event after a first-round exit at the Swiss Open. Coria is certainly the underdog going into this clash.
