Rafael Nadal is leaving no stone unturned in preparing for the new season. The Spaniard will go into the 2023 Australian Open as the defending champion.

Rafael Nadal’s season came to an end with an exit in the group stage of the ATP Finals. He lost to Taylor Fritz and Felix Auger-Aliassime before picking up a win against Casper Ruud in an inconsequential match. The 22-time Grand Slam champion is gearing up for the new season and he would hope it begins the same as this season began.

The current world No. 2 recently completed 900 weeks in the top 10 of the ATP rankings. He is only behind Roger Federer, who stay in the top 10 for 968 weeks. Nadal added four titles to his illustrious trophy collection this year and would hope to add a few more in 2023.

The Spanish legend recently announced on social media that Spanish coach Francis Roig, who was in Nadal’s coaching team for the past 18 years has parted ways on amicable terms. Now, the southpaw has revealed that Argentine coach Gustavo Marcaccio has joined his technical team. Marcaccio has been working at the Rafael Nadal Academy since April 2021 and will apparently step in for Roig. Nadal took to Twitter and wrote:

“Hello everyone. I want to inform you of the incorporation of Gustavo Marcaccio to the technical team. Gustavo has been working at the @rafanadalacademy since April 2021 and I understand that he is a good addition to the team. It will surely help us a lot to follow the path. Welcome!”
