Fans are mocking Novak Djokovic’s apparel sponsor Lacoste on social media – here’s everything you need to know about it

Lacoste’s limited edition ’23’ jacket for Novak Djokovic was one of the most talked about topics on social media following the Serbian’s Roland Garros victory. Lacoste has been Djokovic’s apparel sponsor for a long period of time now and they are known for coming up with specially customized shirts for the Serbian after every Grand Slam victory. They came up with a ’22’ shirt earlier in January after Djokovic won the Australian and they might have to come up with a ’24’ shirt in a month’s time following the conclusion of Wimbledon.

Fans had a good laugh on social media regarding how often Lacoste are having to come up with a limited-edition shirt. Djokovic signed for the French company in 2017 and his current contract runs till 2025. The brand was founded by a Tennis legend, Rene Lacoste and Djokovic certainly serves as the brand’s most recognizable personality till date. As a part of their deal, Lacoste launches annual Lacoste x Novak Djokovic collections, each developed around the style and performance needs of the Serbian star on the court and off, around the Grand Slam tournaments every year.

However, fans didn’t leave the opportunity to joke on the frequency of Lacoste’s limited edition tees for Djoker. Let us take a look at some of the reactions.

Novak Djokovic is now the most successful Grand Slam winner of all-time

Novak Djokovic is an all-time sporting legend and if there were any doubts previously, there shouldn’t be any more after his record-breaking title win at the French Open. Djokovic (23) now has won the most number of Grand Slam titles in the history of the sport – one more than his closest rival Rafael Nadal (22). He also holds the record of being No.1 in the ATP rankings for the longest duration of time. He won a record tenth Australian Open title in Melbourne earlier this year and is well on his way to winning a ‘Calendar Grand Slam’, with the Wimbledon and the US Open scheduled to take place later this year.

Djokovic has bagged 67 ‘Big Titles’ which includes Grand Slam titles, ATP finals, ATP Masters 1000 tournaments and Olympic singles gold medals.

As things stand currently, Djoker is seven ‘Big Titles’ clear of his biggest rivals – Nadal (59) and Federer (54). Earlier this year, Djokovic became the third-oldest man in the Open Era to triumph at the Australian Open, trailing only Ken Rosewall and Federer, who both accomplished the feat aged 36.

With his victory against Tsitsipas in the championship clash, the Serbian also holds the record of winning 17 consecutive matches against Top 5 opponents at the tournament. Djokovic has still got a lot to offer to Tennis and it remains to be seen where he eventually finishes by the end of his career.
