Three-time Grand Slam winner Andy Murray has rolled back the years in a bid to work with Ivan Lendl once again
Earlier on Friday, tennis superstar Andy Murray announced that he appointed Ivan Lendl as his coach for the third time. The duo is set to link up soon and start working together in the US next month.
Murray and Lendl first worked together in 2012 and the former tennis star has helped the Briton win all of his three Grand Slam titles. Murray clinched his first Grand Slam title in 2012 when he won the US Open. He then followed that up with the glory at the Wimbledon the following year.
However, the pair later split up in 2014 before reuniting for a second time two years later. In 2016, under the guidance of Lendl, Murray won the Wimbledon for the second time. More so,
Murray also clinched two Olympic gold medals while working with Lendl. He was also ranked No.1 in the Men’s Singles while working with the eight-time Grand Slam winner.
The duo split again in 2017 after problems arose in the camp. Lendl then decided to work with Alexander Zverev but his stint with the German ended rather poorly in 2019.
Andy Murray reveals decision to work with Ivan Lendl again
Murray had been searching for a coach since splitting from Jamie Delgado, who is currently working with Denis Shapovalov since December.
The Scotsman still remains hungry for some more triumphs at 34. He will spend several weeks training after this month’s Miami Masters before preparing for the grass-court season which starts in June.
Murray had already decided to skip the clay-court season from April to June. This means he will not be taking part in the French Open in 2022.
He will spend a lot of time with Lendl training and will be hoping to bring back the days of success. Along with Lendl, Murray reportedly wants to add another coach to his team in order to get back to his best.
