Predicted 4-4-1-1 Burnley XI to face West Ham in the Premier League

Burnley suffered a humiliating 4-0 home defeat at the hands of Chelsea last weekend. The Clarets will be up against it once again when they make the trip to the London Stadium to face West Ham on Saturday.

West Ham were held to a 1-1 draw by Leicester City last week and the Hammers will be looking to get all three points out of Saturday’s home fixture.

Team News

Nick Pope and Stephen Ward have been ruled out due to injuries while Aaron Lennon, Ben Gibson and Jack Cork will be pushing for a return from injury.

Formation: 4-4-1-1

Joe Hart (GK)

The Englishman made some fine saves last week and has been one of the best goalkeepers in the Premier League this term.

Matthew Lowton (RB)

Had a tough time dealing with Chelsea’s attackers last week and will be expected to improve against West Ham.

James Tarkowski (CB)

It was a rather weak display in the heart of the defence from him last week but he has been largely solid this season.

Ben Mee (CB)

He will have his work cut out along with Tarkowski to keep Arnautovic and company at bay.

Charlie Taylor (LB)

He hasn’t been in good form in the entire season but Burnley do not have too many choices.

Johann Berg Gudmundsson (RM)

The Iceland international has perhaps been Burnley’s only creative influence in the midfield and he will need to deliver the goods if the Clarets are to have any chances of upsetting the odds.

Ashley Westwood (RCM)

Injury to Jack Cork might open the door for Westwood to feature in the starting eleven.

Steven Defour (LCM)

He hasn’t had much playtime in the Premier League this season but he is the most experienced central midfielder in Burnley’s ranks.

Aaron Lennon (LM)

The former Tottenham man might be returning to the eleven after being sidelined due to a minor illness.

Ashley Barnes (CAM)

Jeff Hendrick did not have any influence against Chelsea and Dyche should hand Barnes a start ahead of him for Saturday’s game. He produced a fine performance against Bournemouth earlier in the season and he must replicate that.
