Steven Gerrard 1

Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard could be set to take the managerial role at Scottish Premiership club Rangers FC at the end of the season, according to numerous reports in the media including the latest report by BBC’s Chris McLaughlin.

The former England international has been in-charge of the Liverpool U-18s side this season and has impressed in his short stint as the youth coach at the club. And the Gers are looking at him as a replacement for current manager Graeme Murty, who took over the reins of the club following the sacking of Pedro Caixinha.

If the Gers end up getting the 37-year old ahead of the next season, here are three players that he could look to sign for the club;

Harry Wilson

Wilson

The 21-year old attacker is currently away on loan with EFL Championship side Hull City, having joined the Tigers in the winter window and has been impressive in short spell with them. So far, the Welshman has scored seven goals and assisted four more in 11 appearances for Nigel Adkins’ side.

Wilson will return to Liverpool at the end of the season, but given that there is little scope of him getting regular playing time in the senior side, another loan move away would be beneficial for him.

Able to play anywhere in the attack, Wilson’s signing will benefit the Gers.

Connor Randall

Another player who is currently away on loan from Liverpool at Scottish Premiership side Hearts of Midlothian. The 22-year old Connor Randall would be another interesting option for Gerrard and Rangers to consider if the Englishman ends up taking over at the club.

Randall has had a decent season with the Hearts in Scotland, featuring regularly for Craig Levein’s side. The Englishman has featured 27 times in all competitions this term and has chipped in with two assists. Given that Liverpool have abundance of options at right-back the player’s chances of breaking into the first team are bleak. And the Gers could use a player in that position, given that they have little backup for James Tavernier in the squad.

Ryan Kent

The 21-year old Englishman has been tipped for a bright future but hasn’t had the best of the campaign this time around. Having spent the first half of the season on loan with Bundesliga side Freiburg, Kent hardly featured and as a result returned to Liverpool in January only to join Bristol City till the end of the season.

Since moving to the Championship outfit, Kent has made 10 appearances, registering two assists in the process. A winger, who can play in central roles as well, Kent has enormous amount of pace to burn and can run past defenders with the ball at his feet with great ease.

He may have struggled for form in the ongoing campaign, but Gerrard will be aware of his potential and should consider adding Kent to his roster, should he take up the Rangers’ job.
