This landed him an opportunity in the UFC. He made his UFC debut against Dan Stittgen at UFC 143. Wonderboy made an impressive start to his UFC career by knocking out Stittgen in the very first round of the fight.
However, Thompson lost his very next fight via. unanimous decision. He had faced Matt Brown at UFC 145.
Following this loss, Thompson went on an unbelievable 7-fight win streak. This earned him a title shot against then-welterweight champion Tyron Woodley.
The pair fought it out in an absolute war at UFC 205. The match ended in a draw, and Woodley got to keep his title.
