Everton player ratings against Tottenham in the FA Cup

Everton and Tottenham managed to play out a nine-goal thriller in the FA Cup fifth round. The Toffees managed to edge out the game 5-4 in extra time after both sides kept cancelling each other out with four goals each in the 90 minutes of regulation play.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin, Abdoulaye Doucoure, Richarlison (2) and Bernard were the home side’s scorers while Davinson Sanchez (2), Erik Lamela and Harry Kane put their names on the score sheet for Tottenham. Bernard scored the all-important goal in the 97th minute to tilt the game in Everton’s favour, knocking out Mourinho’s Spurs in the process.

Everton player ratings

Robin Olsen (GK) – 7

Hard to fault Olsen for any of the goals, with his defenders going sixes and sevens in front of him.

Ben Godfrey (RB) – 6

Rather unusual to see the usually reliable Godfrey operating so loosely. Was not helped by those around him either.

Yerry Mina (CB) – 5

Gave the ball away cheaply on quite a few occasions, which resulted in Spurs attacks. Was fully at fault for Lamela’s goal.

Michael Keane (CB) – 5

Much like his defensive partners, Keane wasn’t covering himself in any glory with this display.

Lucas Digne (LB) – 6

Industrious as ever, running up and down the flank with ease. Delivered some good crosses.

Tom Davies (DM) – 7

The academy starlet, who has been underwhelming this season, picked a good game to showcase his skills. Kept finding himself duelling with the Tottenham midfielders and forced mistakes out of them.

Abdoulaye Doucoure (DM) – 8

A colossal presence in midfield, Doucoure pretty much covered every blade of grass. His goalscoring run has also started to come at the right time.

Gylfi Sigurdsson (CAM) – 9

He was Everton’s main creative outlet in the absence of James Rodriguez. Went on to bag three assists and scored one too.

Alex Iwobi (RW) – 5

Unlike most of his teammates in the attack, Iwobi struggled to get going. Rarely found himself at the end of any opportunity.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin (ST) – 7

Calvert-Lewing would have been rated a bit more had he not been hooked off in the second half due to injury. Made vital contributions before he left, with an equalising goal and an assist for Richarlison.

Richarlison (LW) – 8

One of the most important players for the side. Scored the goals that gave Everton the lead twice in the game.

Substitutes

Seamus Coleman – 7

Rallied his troops well after coming on in place of Calvert-Lewin. Played with energy and vigour until the final whistle.

Bernard – 7

Scorer of the all-important 5th goal in extra time to win it for Everton.

Mason Holgate – N/A

Brought on in the final few minutes to add numbers in defence and to see out the match.
