Chelsea Opinion: Blues must move for Robert Lewandowski

According to a recent report by The Sun, Chelsea are said to have started transfer talks with Bayern Munich’s Polish striker Robert Lewandowski about a possible summer move that would see the big striker join Maurizio Sarri’s men.

Despite the Blues being handed a 2-window transfer ban, the announcement of an appeal date has them scrambling to try and complete any possible signings before the ban actually takes effect or in the view of the ban actually being squashed by UEFA.

The Blues are already said to have started talks with the striker regarding a potential summer move. The Blues need to bring in a striker who has the right attributes and skill-set to consistently score goals in the famous royal blue shirt.

Chelsea have always been a side that has struggled to find striker replacements through the years. This can be seen clearly from some of their purchases over the last decade or so. While desperation has been the cause for a majority of these transfers, bad judgement has played an unsually important part too.

Names such as Herman Crespo, Fernando Torres, Andriy Shevchenko and most recently Alvaro Morata are sure to induce some mixed memories in the minds of Chelsea fans. They were all big-money signings who failed quite heavily to live up to the massive expectations that were placed on them.

Other than Didier Drogba and Spanish forward Diego Costa, none of the other strikers that the Blues have signed over the years have had a real positive impact. Despite the recent loan signing of Argentine star Gonzalo Higuain, Chelsea’s frustrations in front of goal haven’t come any closer to ending.

Robert Lewandowski has the perfect attributes to be the best striking option for Chelsea in today’s market considering that he has the sharp ability to find himself in the right places within the box. His finishing and movement in the final third will come as a refreshing change for the Blues midfielders.
