Predicted Rangers XI to face Hearts in the Scottish Premiership

Rangers edged past St. Mirren 1-0 in the Scottish Premiership to maintain the pressure on arch-rivals Celtic atop the standings, thanks to a solitary goal from Jermain Defoe

The Gers will once again be the outright favourites to come away with all three points when they make the trip to Tynecastle Park to face Hearts in the Scottish Premiership on Sunday.

Steven Gerrard’s side are currently a couple of points behind Celtic in the title race, having played a game less, and they will be hoping to strengthen their title credentials when they face the Edinburgh outfit at the weekend.

The Ibrox giants absolutely demolished Hearts 5-0 back in December and Daniel Stendel’s side are going to have their work cut out for this one.

Team News

Steven Gerrard doesn’t have any fresh injury concerns heading into the trip to Tynecastle Park on Sunday. Filip Helander and James Tavernier are on the treatment table but Alfredo Morelos is back in contention after serving a one-game ban for his red card in the Old Firm derby back in December.

Formation: 4-3-3

Manager: Steven Gerrard

Predicted XI

1. Allan McGregor (GK)

The veteran managed a rather easy clean-sheet in the 1-0 victory over St. Mirren and he has always been the undisputed first-choice for Gerrard between the sticks.

2. Jon Flanagan (RB)

The former Liverpool man put in a decent shift at right-back in the last game and should retain his place in the absence of Tavernier.

3. Nikola Katic (CB)

The Croatian didn’t have too much to do against St. Mirren but he has grabbed his opportunities with both hands in the absence of Helander and should retain his place.

4. Connor Goldson (CB)

The former Brighton man has been one of the first names on Gerrard’s team sheet since the start of the last season and he should once again be among the starters for this one.

5. Borna Barisic (LB)

The Croatian has been quite sensational for the Gers this season and he will surely keen his place in the playing eleven for the trip to Hearts on Sunday.

6. Ryan Jack (CDM)

The former Aberdeen man has been one of the key cogs in Rangers’ midfield so far this term and he is likely to be handed another start on Sunday.

7. Glen Kamara (LCM)

The former Arsenal man wasn’t at his sparkling best against St. Mirren in the midweek game but the fans will be hoping to see the best of him against Hearts at the weekend.

8. Scott Arfield (RCM)

The Canadian international continues to be a key player for Gerrard and he could return to the eleven in place of Davis, who has started the last two games in a space of just three days.

9. Sheyi Ojo (RW)

The Liverpool loanee only played a cameo off the bench against St. Mirren but he could get a start ahead of Aribo on Sunday if Gerrard opts to rotate his squad.

10. Ryan Kent (LW)

The former Liverpool man struggled to make a big impact in the last game and must aim to put in a better shift this time around.

11. Alfredo Morelos (ST)

Defoe has found the net in each of his last two games but the Colombian hitman should return to spearhead the attack after serving his suspension.
