Ross Brawn is one of the most well-known names in the F1 circuit and he has stepped down from his role as Managing Director of F1 at the end of 2022. He is currently designated as the F1 Managing Director, motorsports, and Technical Director. In his long career in motorsport, spanning close to five decades, Brawn has worked in various roles across F1 teams and in administrative positions.
Brawn’s career in motorsport began way back in 1976 when he joined March Engineering in the town of Bicester as a milling machine operator. In Formula One, his biggest breakthrough in F1 came in 1991 when he joined the Benetton team as Technical Director. In 1997, Brawn joined Ferrari along with Michael Schumacher and carried on with the Scuderia till 2006.
Brawn joined Honda F1 team towards the end of the 2007 season as the Team Principal. However, the team announced its withdrawal from F1 the very next season which meant Brawn was left without a team in F1. His last stint in F1 was with Mercedes from 2010 to 2013 and in 2014, he announced his retirement from Formula One. In 2017, he moved up in administrative roles with the F1 management and after a glorious tenure of five years; he has retired in 2022.
