Henry Cejudo wants a fight against Aljamain Sterling in pursuit of reclaiming his bantamweight championship

Ever since UFC 273 concluded, former two-division champion Henry Cejudo has been teasing a comeback to the sport. He has re-entered the USADA pool and is often seen training alongside boxing legend Mike Tyson. Featherweight champion Alexander Volkanovski was his prime target for the much-anticipated return, however, the UFC does not want him to chase the triple-champ status straightaway.

With the featherweight title shot out of the picture, the most viable option for Henry Cejudo is a bantamweight title shot against Aljamain Sterling. The ‘Funkmaster’ claimed his stake as the undisputed bantamweight champion when he beat Petr Yan in their rematch at UFC 273. He has been calling out for a fight against MMA legend Jose Aldo and former champion TJ Dillashaw.

The pair sat down with Daniel Cormier some time back where Cejudo claimed that Sterling has no chance against him. The Olympic gold medalist claims that Sterling hasn’t spoken his name since the sit-down.

“Since I told this man what I would do to him on the sit down with @dc_mma he stopped bringing my name up. You a smart little hoe @funkmasterMMA relish and cherish my belt. Two of those so called legends lasted one round and the other two. @danawhite,” Cejudo wrote on Twitter.

Henry Cejudo trains with Mike Tyson ahead of octagon return

Ahead of UFC 273, The Korean Zombie spent most of his camp with Henry Cejudo in preparation for Volkanovski. Although Zombie showed immense heart and courage, he wasn’t given any bandwidth to showcase his improvements by the Aussie. The Aussie’s performance triggered the competitor inside Cejudo.

Although the UFC has made it clear that they are not interested in giving Cejudo an immediate shot at the 145 lbs. gold, it is likely that Cejudo will return to face the bantamweight champion, Aljamain Sterling. Regardless, Cejudo has resumed training in full swing and looks forward to returning to action by the year-end.

Cejudo was seen alongside heavyweight boxing legend ‘Iron’ Mike Tyson on his show the Hotboxing podcast on several occasions. The pair even share a boxing trainer together in the name of Rafael Cordeiro. Cordiero has been training Mike recently, even when he fought fellow boxing legend, Roy Jones.

Cejudo posted a video of him hitting the mitts with Cordeiro, while Mike Tyson watches with an observant and scrutinizing eye. He posted a video on Twitter with the caption,

“Dissecting the craft of inside body work with Uncle Mike. Someone’s in big trouble upon my return.
