Inter Milan star Marcelo Brozovic is on the radar of Real Madrid

According to El Nacional (h/t ESPN), Real Madrid are interested in conducting a move for Inter Milan star Marcelo Brozovic. The Croatian international has not dropped a beat under new manager Simeone Inzaghi but is now on the radar of several clubs amidst a potential deal.

After developing under some mid-tier first division clubs in Croatia, Brozovic joined Dinamo Zagreb, and he was a revelation for them. In 2016, he made the decision to join the Nerazzurri and has since displayed stellar performances under various managers. His influence in the midfield line proved crucial to Antonio Conte’s title-winning side last season.

But is he now ready to leave Inter Milan? And would Real Madrid be making the right move by going after him?

Real Madrid will be landing one hell of a signing by getting in Marcelo Brozovic

In the last six seasons, the Croat has made over 250 appearances for the San Siro club. At the same time, he has also contributed to 71 goals –a decent feat for any midfielder. However, his relentless tenacity is one to admire. Inter finished 7th in his first season at the club but finally won the Scudetto after a decade last campaign.

Although multiple investments and Antonio Conte’s tactics did help considerably, Brozovic was a key cog in this process. This season, his contributions in 16 games across all competitions have helped the club be within touching distance of the top of the table and also be in contention to qualify for the knockout stages of the UEFA Champions League.

Hence, Real Madrid have more than a couple of reasons to be interested in the player. Los Blancos only added David Alaba to their squad this season but lost some experienced heads. Sergio Ramos and Raphael Varane have been key to the Spanish club’s success over the last decade, and letting both of them leave would have been a huge loss.

Thus, they might need a winner in the squad again. The 28-year-old recently won the league with Inter and could be aiming for success again. Moreover, both Toni Kroos and Luka Modric are into their thirties, with the latter on the wrong side of it.

Brozovic is playing at the peak of his powers and if the La Liga club hope to get back to winning the big trophies again, they will need players like the San Siro star.

Real Madrid can settle a transfer for Marcelo Brozovic for absolutely nothing

The central midfielder is in the final year of his contract and could leave on a free transfer next summer. If he fails to sign a new deal by the end of this year, foreign clubs could also make him sign a pre-contract in January, which would see him move in the summer.

Madrid could take advantage of this situation and seal a deal for him as soon as possible. It is thought that other clubs are also interested in Brozovic, but Florentino Perez has a trick up his sleeve. It is said that any potential deal for the 28-year-old could see Luka Modric move the other way and join the Italian club.

Therefore, this added incentive could convince the Serie A outfit to conduct business with the 13-time European champions. Carlo Ancelotti has a mixed squad of talent currently. He has young stars and ageing athletes, and the Croat could balance this out.

The La Liga outfit have let go of players like Mateo Kovacic and Dani Ceballos in the past, and it is now time to strengthen the midfield line, something the Inter ace can certainly do.
