Rajeev Ram: Personal Life

Born to parents Raghav Ram and Sushma Ram, Rajeev began playing tennis at a young age. However, table tennis and cricket are some of the other sports he enjoyed growing up.

He went to Carmel High School and completed his college education at the University of Illinois. He got married in 2016 to Zainab Saqib. Ram enjoys spending time with his family and has a charity for kids named EntouRaj.

Rajeev Ram: Early Career

The Rajeev Ram showed great promise in his junior career. He won nine national junior titles in singles and doubles combined. While in high school, Ram earned All-State honors and became the state singles champion. He also earned a scholarship in both 1998 and 1999.

He earned a wildcard entry into the Juniors’ 2001 US Open and became runner-up in the junior doubles at the 2002 Wimbledon alongside Brian Baker. Ram competed in all four Grand Slam junior tournaments.

A couple of years his first mixed doubles Grand Slam title at the 2019 Australian Open, partnering Barbora Krejcikova. Ram and Salisbury won their first Grand Slam title at the 2020 Australian Open.

Ram and Krejcikova once again won the mixed doubles event at the Australian Open in 2021. He won another major title at the US Open in the doubles event alongside Salisbury.

In 2022, Salisbury and Ram won the US Open for the second straight year. They defeated Wesley Koolhof and Neal Skupski in the finals. Ram became the oldest first-time world No. 1 in the doubles rankings on October 3, 2022. He is the 18th American to reach the top of the rankings.
